My husband and I would like to start a family but I have a few questions and concerns that maybe some of you can help me with:

I carry our insurance through my work, if I want to take a little bit of time off of work after having the baby do I lose my insurance until I come back to work? Does anyone know if they usually only cover your during your maternity leave? (I have Blue Cross Blue Shield if that makes a difference?)

Also together my husband & I make about 52,000 a year - I make 30,000 of it so I’m affraid that I will have to go straight to work afterwards, which really isn’t how I want to raise my child. I hate the thought of day care that soon. Would we qualify for any assistance so that I can stay home? We reside in Florida

The company is large — I work for the US Department of Veterans Affairs so I’m federal, my husband is a fence installer for a small company. We have considered him staying home instead of me, and also he’s thinking about enlisting in the Air force.

We are renting (650.00 a month) but of course would have to move to a two bedroom, instead of a one bedroom. (which would probably be about 750.00-800.00)

- Also have two car payments which end up being about 700.00 a month (can’t sell because they are both upside down loans…ugggg!

) — also we have barely any debt because I paid about 1500 of the 3000 off last month with tax return and loan from my TSP (or 401K)–

We’re well off for being in our early 20’s.. I will be turning 22 in a few weeks. The reason we are trying so soon is because his father is older and he has no grand children yet plus we are both very responsible and don’t drink do drugs etc. Mostly home bodies and are looking forward to being parents!
